BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

Boost your immune system and recover as quickly as possible. Food is medicine and these drinks will support your health.

I grew up with a grandma who treated every disease in a natural way. She very rarely used pharmaceuticals and she became very old.

From a very early age, I have been interested in natural remedies not only to treat myself but also my small kids and to support my community. I have been interested in natural remedies from a very early age. Not only to treat myself but also my small kids and as a way to support my community.

Golden Milk

The main ingredients of this soul-warming drink are turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. Optionally, you can add black pepper/or your favorite natural sweeteners such as jaggery or raw honey.

  • Turmeric gives the drink its name and color; it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiseptic used since ancient times. It helps to soothe respiratory ailments and purifies life to just name a few.

  • Cinnamon is known to help prevent and shorten the duration of the flu. It has the highest antioxidant strength of all the food sources and is several hundred times more potent than any fruit or vegetable.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond or organic cow milk

  • water, for simmering

  • 3 cardamoms, cracked

  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric

  • 2.5 cm piece of fresh ginger, grated

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp jaggery (or any other natural sweetener)

How to

  1. Place the milk in a small pan and add 60ml of water.

  2. Add the remaining ingredients, apart from the jaggery, and gently simmer for 10 - 15 minutes.

  3. Pour in a cup, stir through the jaggery to taste, strain, and serve.

EXTRA TIP:

Golden Milk is especially calming in autumn and winter.

For an extra boost in the summertime add a tiny pinch of Saffron for cooling properties. Or even use it instead of ginger if you feel very hot.

If you feel sluggish and depleted use ground ginger instead of fresh as it's more heating. Avoid adding sweeteners and enjoy it without.

Golden milk is great to enjoy before bedtime. If you feel a cold or flu coming up try to rest more and sleep early. I like the message my friend Siobhan just sent me: "Give up the battle and just rest" Let the natural remedy do its work.

Magical Ginger & Lemon Drink

Warm water with a few slices of ginger, a dash of lemon juice and optional raw honey

  • Ginger contains anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. This helps to prevent colds and flu.

  • It has incredible immune-boosting and germ-fighting abilities.

  • Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and rich in bioflavonoids, just to name a few, which can boost the immune system.

  • Lemons are especially beneficial for colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, and viruses.

  • Try to drink this in the morning first thing after you have cleaned your tongue and brushed your teeth.

  • It will support your digestive system and hopefully, you'll have a good bowel movement which is key to good health!

Fresh Press

Fresh juice from oranges, carrots, celery, ginger, vegetable oil and lemon

  • Oranges are full of glutathione, flavonoids, and (citrus?). They fight off viruses, protect the body from radiation damage, and deactivate toxic heavy metals in the system.

  • Carrots contain vitamin A, antioxidants, and other nutrients. They improve digestion and refuel the liver with glucose, vitamins, and minerals.

  • Celery is said to have incredible healing powers and one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods.

How to:

  1. Keep the lemon and oil aside.

  2. Wash all the ingredients, peel the oranges and ginger, and press through a juicer.

  3. Pour in a glass and add a few drops of oil and lemon.

TIP: If the juice is too cold ad a bit of warm water. Your digestive fire (agni) will appreciate it.
